GOOD START BY SOPHIE GODLEY
AT UCF CHALLENGE
Sophie Godley, pictured above, from Notts, a sophomore student at Florida International, is the leading British player in the field of 104 after the first round of the University of Central Florida Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Over a par 72 course of 6,349yd, Sophie shot a one-under-par 71 and is four shots behind the leader, Fanny Cnops of UCF.
Fanny's closest rivals after the opening 18 holes are Casey Kennedy (GRU Augusta) and Gabriella Wahl (East Tennessee State).
East Tennessee State senior Sian Evans from Gillingham, Kent is joint 26th after a 73.
Curtis Cup team place contenders Gemma Dryburgh (Tulane) and Meghan MacLaren (Florida International) are T49 on 75 and have a lot of good work to do to improve their positions over the last two rounds.
Melissa Siviter (Georgia State) from the West Midlands is on the76 mark alongside Kennesaw State freshman Dulcie Sverdloff from Southend.
