NEWS FROM THE US WOMEN'S COLLEGE CIRCUIT

BRONTE MAKES TOP 20, STEPHANIE 

A SHOT BEHIND AT NEW ORLEANS

Curtis Cup player Bronte Law from Bramhall, Cheshire and a freshman student at UCLA, finished the top British and Irish player in a field of 90 players at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate women's tournament at English Turn Golf and Country Club, New Orleans.
Bronte, pictured above, scored 72-74-70 for a level par total of 216 over a par-72 course of 6,140yd.
She finished joint 17th, eight shots behind the winner, Maria Sanz (Auburn) who had scores of 71-69-68 for eight-under 208, a shot ahead of Denver's Tonje Daffinrud (70-67-72)
Bronte's Curtis Cup team-mate Stephanie Meadow (Alabama) finished T22 on 217 with scores of 71-72-74.
Brogan Townend from Blackburn, a sophomore at Texas-San Antonio, came T32 on 219 (75-70-74)
Former Scottish schoolgirls champion Julie Yang (Oklahoma State) finished T37 on 220 (70-75-75).
Charlotte Thomas (Washington), from Surrey and Singapore, came T46  on 221 (77-70-74) and Helen Holm Trophy winner Olivia Winning from Rotherham, a student at Tulane, shot 78-70-75 for 223 and a T53 placing.
Scotland cap Rachael Watton from Mortonhall and Edinburgh, a student Denver University, is still looking for her best form. She finished 86th on 236 with scores of 76, 78 and 82.
Bronte Law's performance helped UCLA (843) to win the team title ahead of Southern California (849), Florida (858), Denver (866) and Alabama and Clemson who finished joint fifth on 868 in a field of 17 teams.

ELIZABETH SWALLOW 2nd in GEORGIA


Elizabeth Swallow from Berkshire, a sophomore student at King University, Bristol in Tennessee, finished second in the TSYS Collegiate Classic at Country Club of Columbus, Georgia this week.
She had ever-improving rounds of 80, 76 and 71 for a total of 227 over a par-72 course of 5,821yd.
Elizabeth finished four shots behind the winner, Courtney Shelton (Lee University) (78-71-74 for 223).
A total of 48 players took part.
Lee University (934) scored a double whammy by winning the team title from Lander (938) and Montevallo (950). King (1017) fvinished sixth in a field of nine teams.

RACHEL LEWIS jt 4th at AUSTIN, TEXAS

Rachel Lewis from Wales, a final-year student at Nova Southeastern University, finished joint fourth in the St Edwards Invitational at Grey Rock Golf Club, Austin in Texas.
Rachel scored 75-76 for 151 and finished four shots behind the winner by three, Linda Brown (East Bay) (76-71 for 147).
A total of 72 players took part. 

PHOEBA FOURTH AT THE WIGWAM

Phoeba Cipa from Upminster, a senior year student at Grand Canyon University, finished fourth in a field of 84 players at the Grand Canyon Women's Spring Invitational at The Wigwam Resort, Lichfield in Arizona.
Phoeba, pictured, had rounds of 77, 74 and 76 for a total of 227 over a par-72 course of 6,146yd.
Dolores Brown from Kent, a first-year student at McNeese State, finished T19 on 236 (86-73-76).
Charlotte Jaengkit (Grand Canyon) and Brittany McKee (North Arizona) tied for first place on 224.
Charlotte had rounds of 78, 72 and 74; Brittany 73-75-76.
North Arizona and Santa Clara, both on 920, tied for the team title ahead of McNeese State (923) with Grand Canyon (925) fourth in a field of 14 teams.

ALISON KNOWLES 11TH AT MOBILE
South Yorkshire's Alison Knowles, who scored her fourth individual in the States in early February, finished 11th of 82 on 226 in the USA Women's Invitational Collegiate tournament at Azalea City, Mobile in Alabama.
Over a par-72 course of 6,071yd, the University of Louisiana-Monroe sophomore student had rounds of 76, 76 and 74.
She finished six shots behind the winner by four, Leighann Cabush (Memphis) (73-73-74 for four-over 220).  
Memphis (905) won the team title ahead of Jacksonville State (907) and South Alabama (909) with Louisiana-Monroe (933) eight of 15 teams.
