PETERCULTER PLAYER MAKES TOP 20 AT KIAWAH ISLAND VENUE
RACHEL POLSON JT 15TH IN AMERICA
Rachel Polson, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, a student at Florida Tech, from Peterculter near Aberdeen, finished joint 15th in her first competition of 2014 on the United States women's college golf circuit.
Rachel shot 74-79 for 153 - eight shots behind the two players who tied for victory in the Tusculum/Kiawah Island intercollegiate tournament at Cougar Point Golf Club.
One of Polson's Florida Tech team-mates, Swedish freshman Johanna Larsen and Italian Sofia Molinaro (SCAD-Savannah) topped the leaderboard jointly on 145. Sofia scored 78 67, Johanna 76-69.
They finished two shots clear in a field of 90 players.
The field included three English-born players.
Aimee Paterson (West Florida University) from Florida finished T17 on 154 with rounds of 73-81.
Jenna Birch from Fleetwood, a student at Armstrong Atlantic University scored 79-77 for 156 and tied for 29th place alongside West Florida's Daisy-May Kenny from Purley.
Jenna shot a pair of 78s.
Barry University (597) won the team title ahead of Florida Tech (601), West Florida (608), Armstrong Atlantic (613) and SCAD-Savannah (621) in a field of 18 teams.
