US COLLEGE TOURNAMENT NEWS ROUND-UP

DEVON STUDENT LEON FRICKER WINS 

AT ORMOND BEACH, FLORIDA

Leon Fricker (Bethune-Cookman University), a sophomore student from Ivybridge, Devon (nine miles east of Plymouth and close to Dartmoor), won the Gary Freeman BCU Spring Invitational at Halifax Plantation golf course, Ormond Beach in Florida this week.
Fricker, pictured, whose older brother Ryan is also a student at the same college, shot rounds of 70-75 for one-over-par 145 over a course of 6,953yd to win by one shot in a field of 45 players.
Bethune-Cookman also won the team title, finishing six shots ahead of the Army with Savanah State third in a field of eight teams. 

MARK GEDDES T12 IN CALIFORNIA


Mark Geddes (Grand Canyon University), pictured, a senior year student from Cheshire finished T12 in a field of 51 players at the Folino Men's Invitational college tournament at Industry Hills Golf Club, Industry in California.
Mark had rounds of 73, 77 and 75 for a nine-over-par total of 225 - 21 shots behind the runaway winner - Mark Anguiano (CSU-Fullerton) whose rounds of 66, 68 and 70 for 12-under 204 saw him finished 10 strokes clear of the field over a par-72 course of 7,211yd.
Geddes' team-mate Liam Brace, a senior from Suffolk, finished inside the top 20 with scores of 77, 77 and 75 for 229 and T19 position.
CSU-Fullerton (863) won the team title ahead of Sacramento State (870) in a field of nine teams. 

JONATHAN GREY JT 3rd AT MOBILE 


Jonathan Grey (Georgia State University), a sophomore stuent from Kent, finished joint third  in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at Magnolia Grove Golf Club, Mobile in Alabama.
Over a par-72 course of 7,212yd, Jonathan, pictured left, had rounds of 68, 74 and 71 for three-under-par 213, three shots behind the winner Clancy Waugh (Wake Forest) who shot 68, 74 and 68 for 210.
Niclas Carlsson (Auburn) was runner-up on 213 (71-72-70).
Ryan Pope (South Alabama), a freshman from Exmouth, Devon, finished 13th in a field of 74 with scores of 70, 75 and 71 for level par 216.
Chattanooga's Scottish senior, Chris Robb from Banchory, finished T20 on 220 with scores of 76, 73 and 71.
Kentucky's Ben Stow, a junior from Salisbury, came T26 on 221 with rounds of 73, 78 and 70.
Ewan Scott (Chattanooga), a freshman from St Andrews and Scottish youths champion in 2013, finished T30 on 223 with rounds of 71, 74 and 78.
Another Scot, Liam Johnston, also Chattanooga, a junior from Dumfries, finished joint 57th on 228 with scores of 79, 72 and 77
Matthew Sheehan (South Albama), a freshman from Gillingham, Kent, finished T73 on 243 (78-83-82).
Auburn (858) won the team title ahead of Kentucky (864) with Memphis (865) third of 15 teams.
