A large part of my waking hours are spent trawling the websites of the world for golf news on your behalf.
Recently, while pursuing news of the New Zealand Women's Open, I came across a name from the recent history of Northern Counties Ladies Golf Association - Liz McKinnon who was Northern Counties champion in 2002 at Lossiemouth and 2004 at Nairn.
She was also a member of the very strong Northern Counties team when they won the Scottish title in 2003 and 2004. Without Liz's help Northern Counties were also national champions in 2000 and 2009 - golden days, indeed!
Here's what the New Zealand Golf website had to say:
Liz McKinnon, High Performance Coordinator
Liz joined New Zealand Golf in 2010 after retiring from playing on the LET (Ladies European Tour).
While Liz has somehow managed to successfully juggle being mum to two kids under five, Ailedgh and Logan, wife to Scotsman Roy, helping the First Tee and the Ladies NZ PGA with her full time role at New Zealand Golf as Junior Golf Coordinator, she has now assumed the role within New Zealand Golf of High Performance Assistant Manager.
Liz's favourite course? Pegasus Golf Club.
After graduating from the University of Auckland with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, Liz took her game to Europe where she worked for the Highland Institute of Sport.
Shortly after moving to Europe she gained her card to both the LET (2005-2009) and ALPG (2005-present). She works for New Zealand Golf as the High Performance Co-ordinator and she continues to write for NZ Golf Magazine and present on The Golf Show.
