TOP SCOT GRANT FORREST FINISHES

OUTSIDE TOP 10 AT TEMPE, ARIZONA

San Diego University student Grant Forrest, the highest world-ranked Scottish amateur, finished joint 13th in a field of 81 players at the Arizona State University-hosted Thunderbird Invitational collegiate tournament over 54 holes at the Karsten course, Tempe, Arizona on Sunday.
Forrest, from North Berwick and Scottish amateur champion in 2012, shot 70, 72 and 69 for a five-under-par total of 211 but finished 19 shots behind the runaway winner, by eight strokes, Jon Rahm (Arizona State) who had phenomenal scores of 62, 64 and 66 for a total of 21 under par 192 over a par-71 course of 7,013yd.
Hosts Arizona State won the team title after a triple tie on 817 with Iowa and Arizona
San Diego (860) finished sixth of 15 teams.

MARK GEDDES THIRD IN FIELD OF 91

AT GOODYEAR, ARIZONA

Mark Geddes (Grand Canyon) finished joint third in a field of 91 players at the Desert Shootout collegiate tournament over three rounds at Palm Valley Golf Club, Goodyear in Arizona.
Over a par-72 course of 7015yd, Mark, pictured above, a senior year student from Cheshire, had rounds of 67, 64 and 73 for a very good aggregate of 12-under-par 204.
But so high was the standard of play at this tournament that Geddes' effort was good enough
only for him to finish T3 behind the winner, Nathan Hughes (UMKC) (67-65-68 for 16-under 200) and Jared Du Toit (Idaho) (68-69-66 for 203)
Ross Dickson from London, a third-year student at Nebraska, finished T34 with scores of 73, 73 and 68 for two-under 214.
Brigham Young and UMKC tied for the team title on 833. Other totals: 846 Nebraska (65h). 858 Grand Cancyon (T9 of 15 teams).
