LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas -- After the first two rounds of play, the University of Louisiana-Monroe men’s golf team sits atop the team leaderboard of the First Tee Classic, hosted by UALR (University of Arkansas-Little Rock)
“We played well in the cold this morning,” said head coach Walt Williams, “Greg and Calum led us and were in 1^st and 2^nd.”
The Warhawks finished under par with a 287 in the first round of the tournament, followed by a 297 to take the top spot with a 9-over 584. They lead the competing Sun Belt teams, currently 19 strokes ahead of Arkansas State and 22 strokes ahead of tournament host UALR.
Greg Smail (from Musselburgh) carded an impressive 3-under 69 in the opening round, followed by a 74 to end the day in a tie for fourth place in individual competition. 
Calum Hill (from North Berwick) is just one stroke behind with an even 144 and the sixth place spot.
Charlie Macneal (from Ayrshire)  has scored 76-74 for 150 and a T21 placing
“In the afternoon round we struggled a little more on the greens but held on to the lead.” said Williams, “we look to get a good night’s rest and go out tomorrow and close the deal!”
The final 18 holes of the First Tee Classic will begin with a shotgun start Tuesday morning at 8 am local time
