DEATH OF NETTA LAWRIE, PAST

PRESIDENT OF SCOTTISH VETS

It is with great sadness that I have to report that Border Ladies County Golf Association honorary member and ex-captain, Netta Lawrie died yesterday in hospital.  

Netta, originally from Selkirk, a founder member of the county and also a past president of the Scottish Veteran Ladies Golf Association,  supported the county at many matches, championships and county finals.

As recently as last year she was walking on the course at Stirling with her close friend Isobel Massie.  Isobel has many fond memories of Netta, one of which was watching her in her playing days, holing a long putt across the 18^th green at Selkirk which took the Borders into the County Finals for the very first time. 

She was a lovely woman who had a kind word for everyone. She will be sorely missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her.
