NORTH BERWICK PLAYER'S GOOD START IN ARIZONA

CATRIONA CLICKETY-CLICKS WITH A 

SIX-UNDER 66 AT FOUNDERS CUP

Catriona Matthew has made a very good start to the LPGA Tour's JTBC Founders Cup tournament at Wildfire Golf Club, Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort and Spa, Arizona.

The North Berwick player, pictured, shot a total of eight birdies in returning a first-day six-under-par 66 to be lying joint third  behind South Korean rookie leader Mirim Lee (64) and American Morgan Pressel (65).
Matthew had an up and down start with birdies at the second and third cancelled out by bogeys at the short fourth and long fifth. But then the former Ricoh Women' s British Open champion got into her stride with birdies at the seventh, ninth (out in 34), long 11th, 13th, short 14th and long 15th.
Jodi Ewart Shadoff from Yorkshire and Kiwi Lydia Ko are joint 11th on 67.
Laura Davies had a 68 for joint 18th but Welsh player Becky Morgan struggled for a 73.
