I think that it is only fitting that we launch our new company on the Kirkwood Website. This has been a great website for my own information in my golf career and with the kind permission of Colin and Gillian today is the day. 

We have been working on this health and safety system for many months and have now finalised our package.

As I am now in the ‘fourth quarter’ (and maybe extra time)!! of my golfing career, It has been a natural progression to combine the two.

I am a fully qualified health and safety practitioner and a Chartered Member of IOSH and have many other qualifications alongside my colleague Allan Linton who is also a Chartered Member of IOSH and has a vast range of knowledge in the agricultural industry.

Dormie Safety Systems is our new company and now the golf course safety specialists that provide safety programs and services, which are specific to golf courses and have been developed for use by the golf industry, and cover all the information you need to operate your course safely and in compliance with government regulations.

With the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) in 1974 this provides a greater awareness of the need to reduce the risks of injury to the greenkeepers, golfer and members of the public – mainly from being hit by golf balls. The golfer must also be protected from risks of injury from maintenance activities – a statutory duty under Section 3 of HSWA. However there will be a number of maintenance, and construction, activities that must continue to be carried out during the working, and golfing day.

So, how do you know what golf safety programs you will need? 

This is where Dormie Safety Systems comes in, we offer to carry 

out safety audits at golf clubs and provide full bespoke health 

and safety packages to comply with the minefield that is the 

health and safety regulations and to keep your club “in bounds”.
