NORTH BERWICK STUDENT JOINT EIGHTH WITH FIVE-UNDER-PAR TOTAL

FORREST CHALKS UP ANOTHER TOP-10

FINISH AT TUCSON, ARIZONA

North Berwick's 2012 Scottish amateur champion Grant Forrest, pictured, a third-year student at San Diego University, California, achieved a top 10 finish in the weekend's National Invite Tournament at Omni Tucson National in Arizona - but his college team finished 10th of 14 (behind great rivals San Diego State) in the team race won comfortably by California.
811 California, 846 Oklahoma State.

Forrest had rounds of 71, 71 and 69 to be joiint eighth on five-under-par 211 in a field of 81 players over a par-72 course of 7,200yd.
Forrest finished six shots behind the winner by three, Joel Stalter (California (68-71-66 for 11-under 205). 

PUGH DOWN FIELD AT WILMINGTON

Welsh Walker Cup player in 2011, Rhys Pugh (East Tennessee State), pictured, a junior student from Pontypridd, finished T47 in a field of 78 players at the Seahawk Intercollegiate at Country Club of Landfall (Nicklaus course, par-72, 6,765yd).
He had rounds of 80 and 74 for 154 at the Wilmington, North Carolina venue.
East Tennessee State team-mate Tom Heggarty, a junior year student from Cheshire, finished on 157 (75-82) to tie for 61st place.
Winner by one shot was Will Starke (South Carolina) with rounds of 64 and 73 for seven-under 137. South Carolina students fill three of the first four places and won the team event by 19 shots from runners-up East Tennessee State in a field of 13 teams. 

ELLIS MAKES TOP 10 at TALAHASSEE


Harry Ellis (Florida State), a freshman from Southampton, finished T16 in a field of 75 at the Seminole Intercollegiate at Southwood Golf Club, Talahassee, Florida.
Harry, pictured right, shot 76, 67 and 75 for a two-over-par total of 218 over a par-72 coure of 7,172yd.
Winner by one shot was Trey Valentine (South Florida) with scores of 71, 71 and 68 for six-under 210.
Mercer University (856) won the team title ahead of joint runners-up Florida State and South Florida, both 862, in a field of 13 teams.
