Annabel Dimmock in action in Spain today.
ANNABEL DIMMOCK THROUGH TO FINAL OF SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP
Wentworth's Annabel Dimmock, winner of the Jones-Doherty match-play tournament on the Orange Blossom Tour in Florida in January, is again showing her aptitude for match-play.
The teenage England international player has reached the final of the Spanish women's international amateur championship at Campo de Golf Parador El Saler by beating France's Anyssia Herbaut 3 and 2 in the semi-finals this afternoon.
Dimmock, 20th of the 32 qualifiers for the match-play stages, will play Sweden's No 2 seed Linnea Strom in the final on Sunday.
Strom will be appearing in the final of this championship for the second year in a row.
She lost to Denmark's Emily Pedersen in the final 12 months ago. Pedersen's defence of the title ended in the earlier rounds.
Dimmock, who had kept her nerve to squeeze through at the 19th in the morning quarter-finals, lost the first hole to her French opponent but soon
wiped out the deficit and took the lead which she steadily built on to win by 3 and 2.
Strom was a 2 and 1 winner over another French player, Shannon Aubert. The Swede got on top by winning the seventh and eighth holes and was three up at one stage after winning the 13th and 14th.
