LOUISIANA-MONROE'S STRONG FINISH
AT PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA
The ULM men’s golf team
ended play with an impressive 8-under 280 in the final round of the
Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate, at the Classic Club, Palm Desert, California.
“We had a great day out here today,” head coach Walt Williams said.
The Warhawks carded the second lowest score of the day in a 23-team field that featured a combined nine schools from the Big 12 and Pac 12 and included two top-25 ranked teams (No. 25 Iowa State and No. 19 Oregon).
ULM moved up another four spots to finish the tournament in 11th place; they finished ahead of Big 12 schools Texas Tech, Kansas and Kansas State and 37 strokes in front of fellow Sun Belt school UALR.
Mason Seaborn and Calum Hill both carded a 4-under 68, followed close behind by Velten Meyer (71), Charlie MacNeal (73) and Greg Smail (75).
A field of 128 players was headed - by five strokes - by Julien Brun (Texas Christian) with scores of 72, 66 and 65 for a 13-under-par total of 203 over a long course of 7,305yd, par 72.
“It was a great experience for our guys and we’re looking forward to a great season!” said Williams.
+There are three Scots on the Louisiana-Monroe men's roster - Calum Hill, pictured left, a freshman from Edinburgh (Merchiston Castle School), Charlie MacNeal, pictured below, a senior from Ayrshire, and Greg Smail, pictured right, a sophomore from Musselburgh).

FARRER 4th IN NEVADA FIELD OF 100
Mitch Farrer from West Sussex, in his final year at Nova Southeastern University, finished joint fourth in a field of 100 players at the Las Vegas Desert Classic at the Paiute Golf Resort, Nevada.
Farrer, pictured, had rounds of 71-74 for a total of 145 over the par-72, 7,146yd course.
He finished three shots behind the winner by one, Jeremy Gomberg (Redlands) (69-73)
Redlands and West Florida tied for the team title on 585 - one shot ahead of Nova Southeastern - a very tight finish indeed at the head of a field of 18 teams.
