Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies), last year's Scottish Under-18 girls champion, is through to the quarter-finals of the French Under-21 girls' open championship for the Esmond Trophy at St Cloud Golf and Country Club, near Paris.
The Scot, pictured right, 11th of the 32 qualifiers for the match-play stages, beat Denmark's Cecilie Bofill, the No 22 qualifier, by one hole in the first round.
Then Jaffrey knocked out the No 6 seed, France's Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, by the comfortable margin of 5 and 4.
The only other British player in the last eight is Wentworth's Annabel Dimmock (pictured left) who lost in the final of the Spanish women's amateur championship last month, having won the Jones-Doherty Cup match-play tournament on the Orange Blossom Tour in Florida back in January. Annabel's form this year must have impressed the GB and I Curtis Cup panel who will have select only two players for the June match against the Americans at St Louis, Missouri.
The top four eligble players in the World Amateur Rankings plus the top two in the LGU Order of Merit will automatically fill six of the eight team places.

Connie now plays Marta Martin (Spain), the No 19 qualifier, while Annabel meets Virginia Elena Carta (Italy), the No 18 qualifier.
Should Jaffrey and Dimmock win their quarter-final ties, they will meet in Sunday afternoon semi-finals. The final is on Monday.
Annabel will need to be at her best to beat the in-form Carta who toppled the No 2 seed, Nanna Madsen (Denmark) at the 19th in Round 2.

Curtis Cup team place contender Gabrielle Cowley, the No 9 seed, suffered an early blow when she lost by 3 and 2 in the first round to Denamrk's Malene Krolboll who was herself beaten in the second round.
