FRESHMEN ROSS AND DUSEK HELP UNION TEAM MAKE NAIA FINALS
TOP TEN FINISH BY FORT WILLIAM
STUDENT IN US COLLEGE EVENT
Alasdair Ross (18) from Fort William,
Scotland a freshman student at Union College, Barbourville, Kentucky had a top
10 finish at the 2014 AAC (Appalachian Athletic Conference) Tournament
Championship held at Acworth, Georgia.
This was a three-round event with the winners qualifying to take part in the National Finals of the
NAIA at Daytona, Florida at the beginning of May.
The
Union College
men’s team turned in a strong performance to finish 2nd overall.
The second place finish for Union
in the event was the highest for the team since 2009. That season, the Bulldogs
won the tournament championship.
The top scorers for Union were two freshmen, Andy Dusek from Woking, London and Alasdair Ross, who finished tied seventh and 10th respectively.
Dusek had rounds of 74, 77 and 78 for a total of 229 over a par-72 course of 6,864yd. The weather for the final round was cold and windy.
Ross had scores of 78, 75 and 78 for 231.
Individual winner by four strokes was Even Ball (Tennessee Wesleyan) with rounds of 75, 70 and 75 for 220.
Tennessee Wesleyan University students filled the first two places and helped their college win the tournament with a total of 906 - 15 ahead of Union College with Reinhardt (928) thirrd in a field of 11 teams.
