British players at the Gala Dinner

A strong contingent of 20 British Senior Lady Golfers participated in this years Simone Thion de la Chaume Trophy and Cup, held annually at the Chantaco Golf Club, St. Jean de Luz close to the Spanish Border. The event has become so popular that a second division had to be inroduced this year, with a reduced handicap limit of 5.4 for the Trophy and 14.0 for the Cup.
British players in the prizes for the Cup, were Pauline Bramley, Laraine Hague and Joan Pullen, with Jane Bennett and Lynne Howers making the cut.
Winner of the main event was Finland's Minna Kaarnalahti following a one hole playoff from Dutch Professional, Marjan de Boer. Highest placed British player was Professional, Cathy Panton Lewis, followed by Felicity Christine who won, what for her, was a rare nett prize. Loosing out was Caroline Berry, however her scorecard was first out of the draw for the latest Motocaddy electric trolley. Other British players in the top 30 were Janet Melville, Ruth Lindley and Jane Rees, together with Professionals, Bev New and Helen Reid. Sue Penfold, Susan Glen and Barbara Woodham all made the cut.
Winner of a gross prize in the ProAm were USA Professional, Susan Moon, Sue Pidgeon, with the French Senior Captain Anne Lanrezac and her International player, Virginie Burrus.
Attached is a photo of some of the British players at the Gala Dinner, just one of many hectic social events organised by Veronique and the rest of the Lacoste family.
