ABOYNE STUDENT WINS BY TWO
STROKES IN NORTH DAKOTA
Daniel Thompsett, a former North-east of Scotland boys' champion from Aboyne and a third-year student at Rocky Mountain College, Billings in Montana, won the two-day Jamestown University Spring Invitational at Jamestown Country Club, North Dakota on Tuesday.
Over a par-72 course of 6,578yd, Daniel had rounds of 74 and 70 for a level par total of 144.
He headed the field of 35 players by two strokes.
Rocky Mountain College won the team title by 16 strokes from a field of five teams.
Thompsett is coached by Andrew Locke at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre (when he is home on holiday).
