SCOTS READY FOR STRATHMORE
NEWS RELEASE FROM SLGA
Fourteen-year-old Hazel
MacGarvie (Troon Ladies) had a creditable top 30 finish in the weekend’s Irish
Under-18 Open Strokeplay Championship at Roganstown and will be one of the home
hopes at the Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association’s Under-16 Open Strokeplay
Championship at Strathmore this Thursday and Friday.
Hazel will be representing
Scotland in a team alongside Shannon McWilliam (Aboyne) and Claire Robertson
(Carnoustie Ladies). Scotland’s Team 2 is home club member Kirsty Brodie
alongside Kirsten Brown (Strathaven) and Charlotte Munro (Gullane Ladies).
The Championship has
attracted players from an array of continental countries and the back marker
with a +1.2 handicap is Roehampton’s Samantha Fuller and she will be
spearheading the English challenge with +1 handicapper Hollie Muse (West
Lancs).
English players have won
the 36-hole title for the past two years, Gabriella Cowley lifting the trophy in
2012 and Alice Hewson following in her footsteps last year.
This is the 16th year of
the popular Championship and the impressive list of winners includes Scots
Louise Kenney (1999), Krystle Caithness (2004 and 2005) and Carly Booth (2006).
