ALFORD PLAYER FIGHTS BACK AFTER POOR ROUND 2 START
LAURA MURRAY SLIPS BUT STILL HAS
CHANCE OF FIRST LETAS VICTORY
Laura Murray has slipped out of the lead to third place but still has a first-class of scoring her first win on the Ladies European Tour's developmental circuit's Kristian Ahus Ladies Open in Sweden.
The 25-year-old from Alford, playing out of the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, shot a second-round 74 for level par 144 and she had to cover the last 11 holes in four under par to stay on the leaders' heels.
Murray had a double bogey at the short fifth and bogeys at the first, fourth, fifth and seventh to stand six over par for the day on the eighth tee.
But a birdie 4 at the long eighth, which helped her to an outward half of 41 (eight more than in the first round), was the turning point.
She went on to birdie the long 10th, short 14th and long 18th in an inward half of 33 (four better than her first round).
Murray is only one shot behind the joint leaders, Sweden's Isabella Ramsay (73-70) and Danish amateur Nanna Koerstz Madsen (72-71).
Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll (74 for 151) and Jane Turner (Craigielaw) (77 for 152) made the cut (154 and better qualified) with shots to spare.
But Glasgow's Gemma Webster missed out with an 84 for 159.
McNicoll birdied the long first, fourth and 1t5h but had a double bogey 6 at the 17th and dropped other shots at the third, fifth and 16th./
Turner had a triple bogey 7 at the 16th and a bogey at the 18th. Her highlights were birdies at the 10th, 11th and 14th. She reached the turn in 40 with bogesy at the second, third, fifth and ninth.
