ANOTHER GOOD WEEK FOR THE ALFORD LADY TOUR PRO
LAURA MURRAY FINISHES JT THIRD
IN KRISTIANSTAD OPEN IN SWEDEN
Aberdeenshire's Laura Murray followed up her victory on the Paul Lawrie Ladies Tartan Tour the previous week at Murcar Links by achieving her highest finish yet on the Ladies European Tour's developmental circuit in Sweden today.
The 25-year-old former Scottish women's amateur champion from Alford, pictured, the two-shot leader after one round, finished joint third on 216 - two shots behind the winner - in the Kristianstad Ahus Ladies Open.
Laura, who is attached to the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre. had rounds of 70, 74 and 73 for level par 216 to earn 2,730 Euros. At Murcar Links, she earned £2,500, her biggest pro prize, so it all adds up to the most lucrative two weeks of her pro career so far.
One of the longest hitters in the field, Murray was able to birdie three par-5 holes by getting home in two shots: at the first, eighth and 10th. She also had a birdie 2 at the short 11th.
Bogeys at the second, fourth, ninth and 13th killed her winning chance.
"I played well, left a few shots out there but feeling all-round strong for the season ahead," said Laura.
Sweden's Isabella Ramsay won with a two-under-par total of 214 (73-70-71), one shot ahead of Danish amateur, Emily Pedersen (73-72-70).
Jane Turner (Craigielaw) finished T21 on 224 (75-77-72) and Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll T48 on 232 (77-74-81)
Final words from Laura Murray: "I'm staying on in Sweden for the Sölvesborg Open, starting on Wednesday. Busy few weeks ahead. On to Spain from the second Swedish event and then the next Paul Lawrie Ladies Tour event, at Dundonald Links."
