KELSO'S SHARON PATERSON ODD ONE IN SEMI-FINALS
THREE ROXBURGHE PLAYERS IN
LAST FOUR AT HOME COURSE
The
first day of the Border women's championship closed out with the three
of the top four seeds, all from The Roxburghe, getting
through to Sunday's semi-finals on their home course.
The other member of the last four is Kelso's
Sharon Paterson, the No. 7 seed
Top
seed Julie Birdsall beat Denise Richards
(Torwoodlee) 8 and 6 and will play Carina Bunyan who was taken to
the 18th by the experienced Sheila Cuthbertson (Peebles)
Eighteen-year-old old Dani Ker beat nine times champion Judith Anderson
(Hawick) 3 and 2. Dani will now be up against Sharon Paterson, who beat Claire Howden
(Torwoodlee) 7 and 5.
The morning round finished with most of the games going as seeding. The only upset was
Claire Howden's victory over the No 2 seed, Liz Campbell. Claire holed out from the edge of the green to win at the 19th.

Judith Anderson (Hawick) bt Lorraine White (Torwoodlee) 7 and 5
Sharon Paterson (Kelso) bt Venetia Scott (Torwoodlee) 2 and 1
Claire Howden (Torwoodlee) bt Liz Campbell (Torwoodlee) at 19th
QUARTER-FINALS

BRONZE CHAMPIONSHIP
Elaine
Brotherstone (Lauder) beat Hawick's Zara Middlemass 7 and she will
play Zara's sister, the No. 1 seed and defending champion, 13 year old Rhea Middlemass
in the
first semi-final.
The other semi-final will be contested between June
Craig (Selkirk) and Diane Johnstone (Duns)
