Royal Burgess Society member James Ross, pictured, in his final weeks as a student at Houston University, finished joint 23rd in a field of 50 players at the American Championship college golf tournament at Innisbrook Golf Club, Palm Harbour, Florida (April 27-29).
Over a par-71 course of 7,125yd, Ross shot 74, 73 and 76 for 10-over 223, 17 shots
behind the winner by five, Bryson Dechambeau (Southern Methodist) (70-68-68 for seven-under 206).
Greg Eason (Central Florida), a final-year student from Leicester, finished joint ninth on 218 with rounds of 72, 71 and 73.
Southern Methodist (858) won the team title ahead of Central Florida 9863) with Houston (868) third of 10 teams.

ABERDEEN STUDENT T30 IN GEORGIA
Former Robert Gordon's College pupil Neale Barnes, pictured left, a final-year student at Savannah College, Georgia, finished joint 30th in a field of 52 players at the Sun Conference Championship college golf tournament at Savannah Quarters Country Club, Pooler in Georgia.
Barnes shot rounds of 76, 75 and 76 for a total of 227 - 16 shots behind the winner by one stroke, Sam Jackson (Thomas University) (73-66-72 for 211)
Stuart Winsley (Webber International), a Mancherster-born sophomore student from Northern Ireland, finished 12th on 219 with rounds of 76, 70 and 73.
Thomas University (868) won the team title by 10 shots from Northwood (878) with Johson and Wales, Florida (882) third.
Neal Barnes' college, Savannah finished ninth of 10 with a total of 900.
Irishman Paul Dunne (Alabama-Birmingham), a final-year student from Greystones, finished T10 in a field of 70 players at the Conference-USA Championship at Oak Tree Golf Club, Edmond in Oklahoma.
Over a par-70 course of 6,861yd, Paul shot 70, 69 and 78 for 217. He finished eight shots behind the winner, Matt Mabrey (Tulsa) (70-69-70 for one-under-par 209, one shot ahead of team-mate Logan McCracker (67-70-71)
Rice Univesity (861) won the team title from Alabama-Birmingham (862) with Tulsa (866) third of 14 teams.
