After losing in the 2010 and 2013 finals of the Northern Counties women's county championship, Scottish senior international Alison Bartlett got a third bite of the cherry at her home course, Royal Dornoch, today - and won her first county championship  since moving into the area and taking up the role of county cecretary.
It takes a bit of doing to organise a championship, play in it .. and win it . but Alison pulled it off by beating Nairn Dunbar's Annabelle Brown 5 and 3 in the final.
Brown, aged 19, is a first-year student at Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University.
The title door opened for Bartlett when her clubmate and defending champion Cara (Gruber) Thompson was ousted in the quarter-finals by Inverness's Kerri Harper, making a return to
county golf after a long lay-off.
Bartlett then beat Harper by 3 and 2 in the semi-finals.
In the final, the first two holes were exchanged before Bartlett went one up at the fourth where
her opponent was bunkered. It was a lead she would not surrender.
Brown three-putted to go two down at the eight.
It was Bartlett's turn to three-putt to lose the 10th and see her lead halved.
Brown three-putted the 11th for Bartlett to go back to two up.
Bartlett birdied the long 12th to establish a formiable three-hole lead.
She made it four holes of an advantage at the 13th and then took the 15th as well for a 5 and 3 victory.
Well beaten, but still a good performance by eight-handicapper Annabelle to reach a county final.
The handicap championship was won at the first attempt by 23-year-old Niketa Cruickshank, who plays off 10 at Buckpool.
She beat another debutante from the Moray Firth coastline, 16-year-old Madison Strachan (Cullen), who has a handicap of 12, by 3 and 2. Cruickshank was two up at the turn.
