CURTIS CUP STARTS ON FRIDAY: WEATHER IS VERY WARM AND HUMID
AMERICANS WIN SUPPORTERS' SAUCER
BY BIG MARGIN AT ST LOUIS, MISSOURI
GILLIAN KIRKWOOD REPORTS
FROM ST LOUIS, MISSOURI
Pictured above are Bridget Jackson (left) and Carol Semple Thompson with the Curtis Cup Supporters' Saucer.
The match was played today at the Algonquin Country Club, St Louis, Missouri.
There was a spectacular thunderstorm early this morning and play was delayed so only nine holes were completed after a shotgun start.
The USA Supporters won by 11 matches to two.
I'm sorry I don't have the full list of results but the only GB and I winners were he LGU President Brigid McCaw and Jan Pattinson.
LGU CEO Shona Malcolm / Pamela Williamson and Fiona DeVries /Anita McCaw both had halves. The rest of us lost!
The weather is very warm and humid here and we were quite pleased to only play nine holes .
All the best
Gillian
PS
Husband David has just come back to the hotel with the Gentlemens' Plate. They certainly did better than the women supporters with a five matches to three win at the Boone Valley Golf Club, Missouri.
According to some of the long-time players, this is the first time GB and I have won the Plate since 1992 at Wallasey. The Plate match was halved when held at Panmure when the Curtis Cup was at St Andrews in 2008.
Elaine Farquharson-Black, pictured right, captain of the GB and I Junior Vagliano Trophy team at Chantilly last year, is in the LGU party at St Louis, Missouri. Here's her pass for the welcoming dinner just to let stay-at-homes like us know what we're missing!
