Fewer that 24 hours after I put up my article (scroll down to read it), suggesting there should be open
tournament (s) arranged for Dun Laoghaire Golf Club, near Dublin to help players with 2016 Curtis Cup aspirations comes news that the 2015 Irish women's open amateur stroke-play championship over 54 holes will be played there on May 24-25.
I cannot claim any credit for the move! The Irish LGU had arranged the venue and dates some time ago!
But I still think we could have an open tournament with a difference - two rounds better-ball and one round foursomes (or vice versa) - to get the players used to playing that kind of format at Dun Laoghaire.
