G A GORDON TROPHY RETAINED
TAIN WIN BY 12 SHOTS AT GOLSPIE
By ROBIN WILSON
No change to the scratch winners of the G A Gordon Trophy in
the Ross-Sutherland women's team competition at Golspie where Tain ran out 12-shot winners over Royal Dornoch.
The Tain team was on the familiar lines of Northern Counties
team members, Anne Ryan gross 72, Mary Smith 75, and Claire Ross78, for a 54
hole total of 225. Jackie Neil was the
third member whose score was dropped.
A fourth Northern Counties team player, Cara Thomson, took
Royal Dornoch's first team into second place
with a gross 73 to which was added 82s from Alison Bartlett and Claire
Riddell for a 237 total.
Dornoch's fourth team score from Norma Fleming was
discarded from their gross total but Fleming's nett 74 came into the reckoning
for their nett total of 222 to elevate the Dornoch first select to winners of
the A B Connon Trophy.
This award left Brora's first team of Marlene Bokas, 90,
Lesley Beaney 92, and Angela Grant a 96 for 278 as scratch runners up.
Brora’s
not required fourth score came from Pat Ashe.
The Royal Dornoch third-string team of Irene Hart, Moira
Rennie, Bel Shepherd and Rosemary Muschamp were handicap runners up with a best
of three nett total of 235.
