NORTH DIVISION WOMEN'S INTER-COUNTY JAMBOREE AT PITLOCHRY
NORTHERN COUNTIES' BEAT
ABERDEENSHIRE ON DAY 2
Title-holders and table-toppers Aberdeenshire were beaten 5 1/2-3 1/2 by Northern Counties on Day 2 of the North Division women's inter-county team championship at Pitlochry GC today.
Northern Counties took the foursomes 2-1 and the singles 3 1/2-2 1/2.
Young Aberdeenshire champion Shannon McWilliam scored a very good 6 and 5 win over the experienced Cara Thompson in the top singles but that was as good as it got for the defending champions.
Wins by Meg Seivwright, Anne Ryan and her sister Mary Smith, plus a half-point from Sammy Fotheringham kept Northern Counties in the driving seat.
Angus had a big win, 7-2, against Perth and Kinross and are level with Northern Counties at the top of the table with one win and one halved match apiece.
Angus have the bigger "goal difference" and play Aberdeenshire in the final matches on Monday when Northern Counties play Perth and Kinross.
If Angus and Northern Counties are both Monday winners it will come down to a countback of individual games won.
