FOUR-SHOT LEAD IN BOYD QUAICH

The Boyd Quaich international student golf tournament leaderboard is dominated, at the end of the first day, by those who played their first rounds over the St Andrews New Course (par 71) rather than those who had to tackle the Old Course (par 72) first.
Matthew Fieldsend from Birmingham broke clear of the field with a six-under-par round of 65 at the New course.
His closest rival is another Englishman, Louis Tomlinson from Central Lancashire.
