CONNIE MAKES TOP 20 IN EUROPEAN 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) shot a final round of three-under-par 69 for a total of 290 and tied for 19th place in the European women's amateur golf championship at Estonia Golf and Country Club.

She finished 12 shots behind the two Spaniards who tied for the title on 278, Luna Sobron and Noemi Jimenez.
Sobron, beaten in the final of the 2013 British women's amateur championship, won the marathon play-off at the eighth extra hole of sudden-death play.

Lauren Whyte (St Regulus), the only other Scot to survive the third-round cut, finished joint 44th on 296 after a final round of 75.
The top British player was Meghan MacLaren (Wellingborough) who finished T14 on 289 with rounds of 73, 70, 73 and 73.

    LUNA SOBRON WINS INVITE TO L E T TOURNAMENT

LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR NEWS RELEASE
Luna Sobrón from Spain clinched an eight-hole play-off against compatriot Noemi Jimenez to win the European Ladies Amateur Championship at Estonian Golf & Country Club in Estonia and will now receive an invitation to play in a Ladies European Tour event in 2015.
The pair finished four rounds tied on 278, 10-under-par, but Sobrón eventually broke free after a mammoth play-off, in which neither player wanted to be defeated.
“I played really, really well in this tournament and made the course record of 66 during the final round. I had six birdies and no bogeys and I putted really well. My putting was key to success,” said Sobrón, 20, from Mallorca.
The LET has a new strategy to create a development pathway from entry level to the heights of professional golf by providing an inspirational vision to aspire through richer amateur golf integration, members' education and services.
 This is at the core of the organisation's commitment to developing sport, seeking to build foundations for success on the world stage.
The LET development department was on site at Estonian Golf and Country Club to discuss the opportunities which are on offer, including participation in the PING Junior Solheim Cup, LET Access Series, LET qualifying school, LET and Solheim Cup. Videos from The 2013 Solheim Cup were shown to help get the participants of the event inspired before playing the European Ladies Amateur Championship.
Sobrón played against the United States as a member of the European PING Junior Solheim Cup Team in Ireland in 2011 when the teams tied the match and she said: “I enjoyed it a lot and it was an amazing event. It was a lot of fun playing with the team, representing Europe and I got really inspired by the pros when watching The Solheim Cup.”
Sobrón is currently studying at the Universidad Camilo José Cela in Madrid but hopes to turn professional after finishing her studies post 2016. She said: “I am really excited that I received an invite from LET to play in a future LET event. This gives me a great preparation for turning pro in the future.”
Her next goal is to represent Spain in the World Amateur Team Championship in Japan at the beginning of September.
