INFORMATION FROM  THE WINTERBERG GOLF ACADEMY WEBSITE

Mo began her 16th season at Winterberg Golf Academy in 2014.  She built up a large clientele over the years and helped many players to acheive Platzreife and Handicap.  She took great pride in her work and was always trying to keep up to date with all the latest ideas in order to give the best possible service to her students.

She cared for her clients and was a true Professional.  She was a strict golf teacher, giving 100% to her pupils in the lessons.  She combined serious learning with fun and enjoyment.

She was quoted as saying: "I like using Video Analysis and have been mainly influenced in my teaching by Jim McLean and his books: The 8 Step Swing, The X-Factor Swing and The Slot Swing.

"Also however, by Butch Harmon and Michael Hebron and books like -  See and Feel the Inside Move the Outside, Swing Like a Pro, The 7 Laws of the Golf Swing, The Swing Factory, and the USPGA Training Manual".

Morag was also able to do any kind of club repair and was happy to give advice on purchasing equipment.

Morag started playing golf at the age of eight. By 12 years old she had achieved her first handicap of 36 and at the age of 15 years old she reached a handicap of 3. She was selected for the Scottish Girls International Team and was thereafter to reach her lowest handicap of minus 3 ! and participate in the Junior European International Team and the Scottish Ladies International Team.

During her amateur career she worked part-time in the Professional Shop at Dumfries and County Golf Club. She learned all about the golfing business under the watchful eye of professional Gordon Gray.

Her amateur golfing career included several Tournament wins, the highlight of which was winning the 54 hole St Rule Trophy with a six-under-par total at St Andrews  in 1992.

She had four holes in one and held the course record at several courses in Scotland. In setting the women's record of six-under-par 66 at her home club, Castle Douglas, she had seven birdies in a row.

Mo topped the Scottish Ladies Golf Association Order of Merit at the end of 1992 and then turned Professional.

In 1993 and 1994 she participated on the Ladies European Tour with moderate success. A 16th place finish in the Dutch Open in 1994 being her best result.

In 1995 and 1996 she worked as a golf teacher at Rheinblick Golf Club.

In 1997/1998 she tried her hand again on the Ladies European Tour and through this and an attachment with professional Ian Young of Braid Hills Golf Centre, Edinburgh, she started her PGA apprenticeship.

After three years' education on the golf swing, teaching, golf club repairs and equipment and business management in February 2000 she sat her final exams.

When the results were calculated it was found that Mo was the Top Trainee in Scotland and she is pictured here receiving her award
