AILSA SUMMERS' BIRDIE BLITZ WINS

NORTH OF SCOTLAND FINAL

Number two seed Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies) has won the North of Scotland women's amateur championship for the first time.

The St Andrews University student (pictured right) beat Aboyne teenager Kimberley Beveridge by 3 and 1 to win the Gifford Trophy in a closely fought final on a very hot afternoon on the Montrose Links.

Beveridge birdied the 10th to regain a one-hole lead.
In a high quality conclusion to a very good match, Summers birdied the 12th, 14th and 17th for a 3 and 1 victory.
Referee for the match was Jane Grubb
