RICOH WOMEN'S BRITISH OPEN

The four Scots involved in today's Ricoh Women's British Open Final Qualifying competition over 18 holes at Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club, Lancashire, all failed to gain passes to the main event, starting at Royal Birkdale on Thursday.

Fourteen players with scores of 72 and better qualified .

Seven competitors on the 73 mark had a sudden death play-off with only the winner

getting the 15th and final place in the RWBO field. That was Australian Bree Arthur who birdied the first play-off hole.

Heather MacRae (75), Pamela Pretswell (76), Laura Murray (77) and Jane Turner (83) failed to make it to the Major.

MacRae had an eagle and three birdies but still contrived to shoot a one-over-par 75 because she had two double bogeys and two bogeys in halves of 35-40.

Pretswell had two birdies in halves of 36-40.

Big-hitting Murray had five birdies but too many bogeys in halves of 39-38.

Turner had halves of 39 and 44.
