LOCAL LAURA LEADS FIRST Q ROUND
AT HIGHLAND WOMEN'S OPEN
Local player Laura Campbell, who plays off four of a handicap at Pitlochry, led the first qualifying round for the match-play stages of the Highland Women's Open at Pitlochry Golf Club today (Tuesday).
She shot a 73 - two ahead of the second placed Chloe Stoke from Ganton, Yorkshire. Chloe, who has three of a handicap is the youngest competitor in the field.
Joint third on 76 are Isla Moncrieff (Pitlochry) and Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe) who equalled Eve Muirhead's course record of 69 in Monday's Starters Cup curtain-raising competition.
The handicap section is also being led by a Pitlochry member, Janet McDonald who had a net 69 off 24. She has a seven-stroke lead from Downfield's Avril Nielson who had a 76 off 24.
Audrey Smith (Pitlochry) (34) also had a net 76 but her inward half was no so goodas Avril's.
