Girls target England’s ‘most improved’ title
Talented youngsters from across the country are heading to Monday’s national final of the Abraham Trophy for England’s most improved girl golfers. The 20 girls have all qualified for the final on the basis of handicap reduction. They will play off for the England Golf title at Copt Heath Golf Club, Warwickshire, on Monday, July 28. They include two pairs of girls from the same club: Julia Warke and Isabella Holmes from Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire; and Mollie Pilling and Bethany Baker from Tiverton in Devon. Last year’s competition was won by Jasmine Campbell of Royal Norwich, in Norfolk (image © Leaderboard Photography). There are two representatives from her county who will be trying to follow in her footsteps: Imogen Leeder from Dereham and Abigail O’Riordan from Thetford. The Abraham Trophy immediately precedes the English girls’ U13 and U15 championships which will be played on the same course from July 29 to 31 The finalists, from 15 different counties, will play off in an 18-hole medal competition, off handicap.
