Pat Doran (Donabate) and Carol Wickham (Laytown and Bettystown) fired one over par 74s in the Irish Senior Women’s Close Championship at Athenry Golf Club today.

Sheena McElroy (Grange) was one shot further back on 75 with defending champion Suzanne Corcoran (Portumna) and Laura Webb (East Berkshire) lying joint fourth on 76. 

The field will play a further 18 holes over the immaculate parkland layout at Athenry tomorrow Wednesday, before the top 16 qualify for the Championship matchplay with players in positions seventeen through thirty-two qualifyog for the Plate matchplay.
