RICOH WOMEN'S BRITISH OPEN TALE OF WOE FOR SCOTS

CATRIONA HAS A NIGHTMRE 83

- AND SALLY, KYLIE ALSO  MISS CUT
Former title-winner Catriona Matthew crashed out of the 2014 Ricoh Women's British Open after a nightmare second round of 11-over-par 83 for a 36-hole tally of 13-over-par 157.

But for an eagle 3 at the last the North Berwick player (pictured) would have had an 85!
Her troubles started with successive bogeys at the first, second, third and fourth.
That's when her three-putt
problems started and it was her poorest putting round for many a long day.
She seemed to get going with a birdie at the seventh but then she bogeyed the eighth to turn in four-over-par 39.
Then came her "horror run."
She had a double bogey 6 at the 11th, a bogey at the short 12th followed by a quadruple bogey 8 at the 13th.
And the nightmare was not over yet. She had a double bogey 7 at the long 17th before closing eagle 3 got her home in 44 blows.
Her 157 aggregate gives her no chance of surviving the cut.
Sally Watson (80-81 for 161) and Kylie Walker (82-75 for 157) later joined Catriona in the "missed the cut category."
That left Vikki Laing, who had a78 in the first round, as the only possible Scot to beat the cut.She began her round with par figures.
