ABOYNE GIRL DOES WELL IN HAMBURG

SHANNON FINISHES IN TOP 12 OF 

GIRLS' EUROPEAN YOUNG MASTERS 

Aboyne's Shannon McWilliam, the Scottish schoolgirls champion, finished in joint 12th place in the girls' section of the European Young Masters golf tournament for Under-16 year olds at Hamburg Golf Club, Germany today (Saturday).
Shannon had rounds of 75, 71 and 76 for a total of 222 - 13 shots behind the German winner, Alexandra Forsterling (67-69-73 for four-under 209).
Hazel McGarvie (Troon Ladies) totalled 236 with scores of 80, 82 and 74 for 236. She finished joint 39th.
In the boys' section, also won by a German, Max Schmitt (65-65-71 for 12-under 201) Matthew McCulloch (Portpatrick Dunskey) finished joint 21st on 224 (79-70-75) and Robert Watson (Muckhart) tied for 35th place on 232 (78-78-76).
