SPAIN INFLICT HEAVY DEFEAT ON ENGLAND

CZECHS EDGE WIN OVER SCOTS GIRLS

The European girls' team championship at Skalica, Slovakia ended with a day of disappointment for both Scotland and England.
The Scots lost 3-2 to Czech Republic in Flight B while England were heavily defeated, 4 1/2-1/2, by Spain their closing Flight A match.
Shannon McWilliam and Nicola Callander lost the foursomes by one hole to their Czech opponents and that proved to be the decisive match as the singles were shared 2-2.
Clara Young (2 and 1) and Lauren Whyte (4 and 3) were Scotland's winners in the singles.

Foursome: K Kaminska and T Meuchova bt N Callander and S McWilliam 1 hole (1-0)
Singles: H Ryskova lost to C Young 2 and 1, S Kouskova bt H Munro 2 and 1, M Bablankova bt H McGarvie 4 and 3, T Steindlerova lost to L Whyte 4 and 3 (2-2).

ENGLAND 1/2, SPAIN 4 1/2
Foursome: I Clyburn and S Keech lost to C Harquin and M P Lugue 7 and 6 (0-1)
Singles: S Lamb lost to A Pasaran Olalla 3 and 2, A Hewson lost to C Sanjuan 1 hole, I Mehmet halved with D Domingo Graeles, H Muse lost to M P Sanmartin 4 and 3 (1/2-3 1/2)
