SWITZERLAND SHOCK ENGLAND IN THIRD PLACE PLAY-OFF
SCOTS WOMEN FINISH ON A HIGH
WITH A 5-0 VICTORY OVER DUTCH
Scotland left their supporters wondering what might have been if the squad had, earlier in the week, been able to produce the form that destroyed the Netherlands 5-0 in their last Flight B match in the European women's team championship at Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Alyson McKechin and Scottish champion Gabrielle MacDonald set the tone with a 3 and 2 victory in the lead-off tie.
That was quickly followed by victories in the singles for Curtis Cup players Gemma Dryburgh (5 and 4) and Eilidh Briggs (3 and 2).
Jess Meek and Connie Jaffrey wrapped up a splendid Scotland finale, both winning by 3 and 2.
France beat Finland 4 1/2-2 1/2 in the Championship Final while England were trounced 4 1/2-1 1/2 by Switzerland in the third place play-off.
