GALLANT BID BY SCOTS GIRLS FAILS
TO MAKE CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT
Scotland
made a gallant but unsuccessful bid to finish in the top eight for the
match-play stages of the European U18 girls team championship at
Skalica, Slovenia.
Very
good efforts by Troon's Hazel McGarvie (71 for 146 and 21st place), pictured, and
Lauren Whyte (St Regulus) (72 for 148 and join 29th), as well as a
gritty 73 from Monifieth's Heather Munro for 149 gave the Scots an
outside chance but the tail did not
wag and the team finished the 36-hole stroke play qualifying on 749,
six shots behind the last of the championship flight qualifiers,
Netherlands.
