MAKE THE CUT AT ASHBURNHAM
Three of the six Scottish entrants - Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw), Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies) and Kimberley Beveridge (Aboyne) - survived the cut to the leading 40 and ties after the second round of the British women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Ashburnham links, Burry Port in South Wales.
St Andrews University student MacDonald, the Scottish champion, birdied the fifth, eighth, 15th and 16th for a level par 74 and joint 16th place on 153 - 12 shots behind leader Olivia Winning (Rotherham) (75 for 141).
Summers had a double bogey 6 at the fourth in an outward 41 on her way to a 78 for 155 and a share of 23rd place.
Aboyne teenager Kimberley Beveridge was challenging for the top Scot spot until she bogeyed fourth of the last five holes for a 77 and 157 which put her in joint 31st place, two shots inside the cut-off mark.
The three Scots who bowed out of the tournament - Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe), 83-82, Tara Mactaggart (Minto), 82-83, and Hannah McCook (Grantown) 83-82) - were all on 165, six shots too many.
