AMATEUR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The three Americans who will take part in next month's Women’s World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy are Kristen Gillman, Alison Lee and Emma Talley, the USGA announced Tuesday.
The U.S. team, captained by Martha Lang, will be headed to Karuizawa 72 Golf East in Japan for the September 3 to 6 biennial matches.
South Korea is the two-time defending champion after winning in 2012 in Turkey. The U.S. has not won since 1998.
Lee, 19, of Valencia, California, is a sophomore at UCLA.
Talley, 20, of Princeton, Kentucky, is a junior at Alabama University.
Gillman, 16, of Austin, Texas, recently won the Junior US PGA and U.S. Women's Amateur in consecutive weeks. She has committed to Alabama University.
