NO SCOTS LEFT IN BRITISH GIRLS

CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER ROUND 1

The three Scots who qualified for the match-play stages of the British girls golf championship all lost their first-round ties at Masserene Golf Club, Northern Ireland.
Clara Young (North Berwick) was beaten 4 and 3 by Ireland's Ciara Carey.
Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) lost by 5 and 3 to Elena Zumga (Spain) and another Troon Ladies player, Emma Hale), went down by 5 and 4 to Michaela Finn (Sweden).
Disappointingly, only four Scots entered the championship. Fiona Liddell, the Scottish U18 champion from Germany, failed to qualify for the match-play.
Top seed Puk Lyng Thomsen (Denmark) lost to the last of the 64 qualifiers, Gloria Zeitler (Germany) by one hole in the first round.
