CLARA YOUNG LEADS THREE SCOTS MATCH-PLAY QUALIFIERS
Germany-born and based Scottish Under-18 girls champion Fiona Liddell failed to make it through to the match-play stages of the British girls championship at Masserene Golf Club, Northern Ireland today (Tuesday)
She shot 80-84 for 164 - six shots over the limit mark for the 64 qualifiers after two qualifying rounds of stroke play.
Top Scottish qualifier was North Berwick's Clara Young in joint third place with 76 and 74 for 150 - four shots behind the top seed Puk Lyng Thomsen (Denmark) (74-72 for 146).who was a beaten semi-finalist last year. The other beaten semi-finalist at Fairhaven last year, Michaela Finn from Sweden, is also one of the leading qualifiers on 150.
Former Scottish girls champion Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) made it through in joint 30th place on 154 (78-76) and clubmate Emma Hale squeezed through on the limit mark with 78 and 80 for 158.
