HOME WIN FOR GLENBERVIE COUPLE

32nd SCOTTISH MIXED FOURSOMES

GOLF COMPETITION

FINALS

Glenbervie Golf Club

Press Release
Forty-three teams contested the Save the Children 32nd Scottish Mixed Foursomes Golf Competition at Glenbervie, coming from as far afield as Strathpeffer and Southerness and all parts in between.

On a calm warm day on a course in excellent condition the scoring was good with only 3pts covering the top six teams.
Pride of place went to Glenbervie couple Isobel (handicap 36) and Richard Johnston (scratch) whose fine score of 37pts edged out Kathy Gold (handicap 25) and Douglas Jamie, who plays off 13 at Dundas Parks), and Sheila (handicap 25) and Gordon Aitken, who plays off nine at Killin.  The runners-up each totalled 36 Stableford points.
Troon Welbeck (£350) won the prize for the largest amount raised at their qualifying event with Kinghorn (£340) close behind.Richard, the 2002 Lothians Champion of Champions, is no stranger to the winning circle but wife Isobel set the scene by rolling in a birdie putt at the first hole and the show was well and truly ‘on the road’.
As usual the Glenbervie club made everyone very welcome with the greenkeeping staff out early preparing the course, the catering and pro shop teams on hand to give friendly assistance and all orchestrated by secretary Ian Webster.

Ian is retiring soon and the Save the Children Team would like to take this opportunity to thank him for many years of assistance in organising this event at Glenbervie.

Although numbers were down a bit on recent years, the event still raised over £5,000 to support the vital and much appreciated work done by the charity in Scotland and around the world.

Save the Children are keen to involve new clubs in 2015 and if anyone is interested please contact Louise Fiermonte (L.Fiermonte@savethechildren.org.uk)
