LAUREN WHYTE MAKES TOP 20 ON USA DEBUT




Former Scottish U18 girls champion from St Andrews, Lauren Whyte, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, finished joint 20th in a field of 65 on her debut for Baylor University, Texas at The "Mo" Morial women's college golf tournament at Traditions Golf Club, Bryan in Texas.
Lauren, a member of the St Regulus Club, had rounds of 75, 78 and 73 for a total of 10-over-par 226 over a 6,158yd course.
Another past Scottish junior champion, Lesley Atkins, transferred from Florida International University to the University of Louisiana-Monroe, appears to have  lost her confidence completely. The Gullane member finished last of 65 with scores of 91, 90 and 103 for 284.
Joint winners on 209 were Clara Baena (Auburn) (72-71-66) and Kayta Jones (Florida State) (69-72-68).

Brogan Townend from Blackburn, a junior year student at the University of Texas-San Antonio,  finished on the same 226 mark as Whyte but with rounds of 77, 70 and79.
A Townend team-mate, Aimee Ponte from Royal Guernsey, finished T46 on 233 with scores of 79, 77 and 77.
Auburn (860) won the team title from Florida State (873).
