MORE TOURNAMENT NEWS FROM USA COLLEGE CIRCUIT

SCOTS DOWN THE FIELD IN SAINT 

LEO INVITATIONAL TOURNEY

The four Scots competing in the Saint Leo University Invitational college tournament did not do particularly well.

In the 36-hole competition held at Lake Jovita Golf And Country Club, over a par-72 course of 7,137 yd, the Georgia Southwestern pair of Chris Low, pictured, a final year student from North Berwick, and Fraser Johnston, a second-year man from Port Seton, finished joint 63rd in a field of 90 players.
They totalled six-over-par 150, Low shooting 73-77, Johnston a pair of 75s.
George Duncan from Dumbartonshire, a second-year student at Lincoln Memorial University, finished T76 with rounds of 75 and 78 for 152.
Fraser Thain from West Linton, a final year student at Lynn University, shot 79-78 for 157 and a share of 87th place.
Best placed Brit was Nicholas Ward from Eastbourne, a second-year student at Georgia Southwestern, in joint 54th place on 148 with rounds of 71 and 77.

 PUGH, DUNNE FINISH IN TOP TEN

Welshman Rhys Pugh (East Tennessee State) and Paul Dunne (Alabama-Birmingham) both finished in the top 10 of the Inverness Intercollegiate at Inverness Golf Club, Toledo in Ohio.

Pugh, pictured right, shot 67-77 for two-over-par 144 over a par-71 course of 7,291. The Walker Cup player finished joint fifth, only two shots behind the three players who tied for first place.
Dunne, pictured below, had rounds of 72-73 to be joint eighth on 145.
East Tennessee State and
Southern Florida tied for the team title of 579.
