SCOTS FIND THE GOING TOUGH AT TURKEY NATIONAL
LAURA MURRAY'S 77 BEST OF FOUR
The four Scots in the field of 80 found the National Golf Club's par-73 ladies' course at Belek, Antalya in southern Turkey tough going in the first round of the Mineks and Regnum Ladies Classic - a LETAS developmental circuit tournament.
Alford's Laura Murray (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) did the best of the four with a three-over-par 77 for a share of 14th place.
But even Laura had five bogeys on her card before she gained her only birdie, at the 17th, in halves of 40-37.
Glasgow's Gemma Webster (Succession Group) is sharing 33rd place on 79 (37-42). Like Laura, Gemma had only one birdie, at the first hole.
Jane Turner (Craigielaw), after her best ever pro performance, when she was runner-up last time out, could do no better than an 81 (41-40) for joint 44th place.
Jane had two double bogeys and just one birdie, at the long fifth.
Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll had a nightmare outward half of 50 on her way to an 89 and joint 72nd place. She had a 9 at one of her early holes followed by a pair of 7s before she got to the turn. Ironically, she had more birdies (two) than any of the other Scots.
Two Swiss players are sharing the lead on two-under-par 71 - Melanie Maetzer and Caroline Rominger. They are a stroke ahead of England's Charlotte Wild.
