SCOTS JAFFREY, WATTON DOWN THE FIELD IN NEW MEXICO

CONNIE FINDS FORM IN FINAL ROUND

AT ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO

Connie Jaffrey from Kilwinning, Scottish women's amateur championship beaten finalist this year, found her form too late to finish higher than joint 27th in the Dick McGuire Invitational women's college tournament at Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Connie, pictured, the 2013 Scottish schoolgirls champion and now a freshman student at Kansas State University, had rounds of 77, 77 and 70 for a total of five-over-par 221 over the University of New Mexico's par 73, 6,192yd course.
Her closing score was one of the best in the final round by any of the 93 players.
Another Scot in the tournament, Rachael Watton (pictured left) from Edinburgh, a final year student at Denver Universtiy, finished joint 44th on 228 with rounds of 77, 75 and 76.
Julie Yang, who won the Scottish schoolgirls title while she was a student at Loretto School and is now at Oklahoma State Universtiy, finished third on 214 with scores of 71, 69 and 71.
Winner of the tournament by three shots was Dana Finkelstein (Nevada-Las Vegas) with rounds of 68, 72 and 70 for nine-under-par 210. 
Northwestern (868) won the team title ahead of UNLV (876) and UC Davis (882). Kansas State (902) were ninth of 16 and Denver (905) 10th.
