Northumbria University's Andrew Wilson made his long trip up from Darlington in the north-east of England to Fife a worthwhile one by being the runaway winner of the men's section of the British Universities and Colleges Student Golf Tour's Ladybank Tournament.
Wilson headed the field by an astonishing 10 strokes with rounds of 67 and 68 for a seven-under-par 135 total in adverse conditions of constant rain and high winds which eventually led to the tournament being curtailed from 54 holes to two rounds.
He had some of the "big guns" of Scottish student golf trailing in his wake, including Swiss international Mathias Eggenberger (Stirling University), joint second with rounds of 71 and 74, and the 2013 SGU Order of Merit winner, Jack McDonald (also Stirling), joint fifth on 146 (72-74).

Wilson spreadeagled the final with an outward half of 30, including holing a wedge approach from 120yd, in the first round.
For the first time in a BUCS Tour event there was a hole in one - in fact there were TWO!
Marco Iten (Stirling) from Switzerland aced the 172yd 10th hole in Sunday's first round while Harry Blake (St Andrews) from Roehampton had a hole in one in Monday's second round at the 156yd eighth.
Stirling won the men's team title with a line-up reading Switzerland pair Mathias Eggenberger and Maro Iten, former English amateur championship finalist Henry Tomlinson (Royal Lytham) and Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie).
Maynooth, whose side included several Irish internationals, finished second.

Carnoustie's Ailsa Summers, pictured with her trophy at Ladybank, a student at St Andrews, was a more anticipated winner of the women's title. Winner of the St Rule Trophy last year, the maths student got her figures spot on with scores of  71 and 77 for six-over-148 and a five-stroke victory from joint runners-up Gee Won-Park (77-76) and Gemma Batty (77-76), both Stirling students. St George's Hill is Gee's home club will Gemma is a member at Fairhaven GC.

St Andrews' line-up of Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie), Miranda Brain (Gog Magog) and Paloma Nunez (USA) won the team title ahead of
Stirling.
